Terry G’ Announces retirement from music

Nigerian Street Pop maestro Terry G has taken to his Instagram account to announce that he is indefinitely staying off music.

After a long career that saw him many years at the top, Gabriel Oche Amanyi the musical figure known by many as Terry G said he’s done with music.

Terry G stood out when he began making Street music because of his unique approach.

Before Terry G, listeners had seen Raskimono, Oritz Wiliki, Daddy Showkey, Marvellous Benji, Danfo Driver, Stereoman, and even Timaya but Terry G brought a dynamic approach to Street music.

He came to limelight with a new style that combined the Galala & Konto style that had roots from Ajegunle in Lagos with the percussions and shakers and defining bell of white garment Christian music. The result was vibrant Street music that deployed street slang and an unconventional Rockstar-styled psychedelia.
