Seun Kuti speaks on Alternative ways to discipline Children
Nigerian musician, Seun Kuti has spoken against the age-old practice of corporal punishment in raising children.
In an interview with Big Brother Naija star, Phyna, recently, Kuti expressed his stance that resorting to physical discipline evokes a form of abuse and leaves lasting trauma on African children.
Growing up in a household where his father, the legendary Fela Kuti, chose alternative methods to discipline his children, Seun Kuti said he learnt the essence of addressing conflicts without engaging physical violence.
While reflecting on his childhood, Kuti shared, “As African children, we’re all abused, we all have the trauma of abuse. However, my dad did not believe in beating us as children.”
