“Let Love leads” says Skit Maker Wofai Fada as in-laws rejects marriage to their Son

Wofai Ewu, often known as Wofai Fada is a comedian and actress in Nollywood. Her marriage to Taiwo Olakitan Cole had become entangled in a family dispute, potentially ruining what is supposed to be a wonderful love tale.

Everything began on Saturday, May 4, 2023, when the comedian posted on her Instagram page that she and Taiwo were engaged.

Undoubtedly hinting at a forthcoming formal wedding, Wofai posted romantic pictures of herself and her partner while showing off a ring on her left fourth finger without a message.

The actress’s followers, colleagues and admirers flooded the post’s comment area with congratulations, as was to be expected. They were thrilled by the turn of events.

Social media began to trend moments later with footage from the couple’s traditional wedding, which took place in Ugep, Cross River State.

The in-laws’ family quickly issued a statement to deny their son’s marriage to the actress, though, which added an unexpected turn to the romance.

The Cole family did not know about or approve of the traditional wedding, according to the statement written by Engr. Kunle Cole on their behalf.

The couple was forewarned by the in-laws not to present themselves as Cole family members because they are neither recognised nor welcomed by the family.

“Images and videos come to our attention showing our son Taiwo getting married to a Wofai Fada in a traditional ceremony in Ugep, Cross River State.

“This serves to notify all acquaintances, family and friends that the Cole family of Victoria Island Lagos are not aware of any marriage ceremony of our Son Taiwo Olakitan Cole, neither did we grant permission nor support in this regard.

“As such, person(s) parading themselves as new members of the Cole heritage by virtue of this purported event, are not known nor accepted by the family. All publications and documents being circulated about this are to be disregarded,” the Coles said.

The ‘father-in-law’ described the circumstances leading up to the traditional wedding in an alleged phone conversation between Taiwo’s father and his friend.

He also mentioned the age gap between Taiwo and Wofai stating that Wofai is 30 while Taiwo is 38. This caused concern for the family.

Nigerians respond as Wofai disregards the Cole family’s warning.

Distressed by her in-law’s response, the actress posted a new video of herself and Taiwo on Instagram with the message, “Let Love lead. #TWO24.”

In the meantime, a lot of Nigerians are discussing the shocking turn of events on social media.
