“I’m not on Twitter,”- Miss Universe Nigeria confesses.
Current Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidimma Adetshina, has spoken out about why she decided to delete her Twitter account.
During a recent interview, she revealed that she had to delete her Twitter as a response to the criticism she received over her nationality and the controversy surrounding her Miss Universe win.
The South African-Nigerian beauty queen said this in a recent interview that she decided to quit Twitter due to the excessive and frequently negative comments she was receiving.
“I’m not on Twitter,” Adetshina confessed.
She described how the app got too toxic for her mental health and that’s why she deleted it to give her peace of mind.
“I had to delete it because I felt like it was too much for me. I’m a comment reader so I read each and every comment; that’s the thing. So for me, I could spend 80% of my day reading comments. I’d read the comments and all and it became toxic for me. I use Instagram but I did limit my comment section one time,” Adetshina explained.
The beauty queen also mentioned the risks that could arise from supporting her, even as she recognised the support she gets from her followers.
“Sometimes there are people in the comment section saying , ‘I really like you but I don’t want to put my feelings out there,’ and it’s valid because when people support me, they get dragged. I don’t want people to go through something like that for supporting me,” she said.
