AFCON: South Africa Coach reveals team’s intention to Play at Finals
South Africa head coach Hugo Broos has expressed his team’s hunger to play in the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Broos tends to bank on his side to upset the super eagles at the tournament which is slated for Wednesday, February 7, 2024.
“Reaching the semifinal is very special for South African football,” said Belgian coach Broos.
“Maybe we can make a surprise (vs Nigeria) now.
“The hunger is big to play the final next Sunday.”
Broos led the Cameroon side to win the 2017 African Cup Of Nations.
However, the Super Eagles defeated South Africa 2-0 in the semi-final of the 2000 edition of the AFCON.
Also, Nigeria won 2-1 the last time both countries met in the quarter-finals at the 2019 edition hosted by Egypt.
