Davido sets to release new single with Angélique Kidjo
Davido has announced the release of a new single featuring Angélique Kidjo, a five-time Grammy winner.
Davido announced his newest project, “Joy,” alongside Angélique Kidjo on August 26, 2024, via his X (formerly Twitter) page.
The Grammy nominee revealed that he will be releasing the new single on Friday, August 30, 2024, which will be featuring the legendary Beninois musician.
Davido wrote: “It was an honor working with the legend @angeliquekidjo on JOY Dropping Friday.”
Angelique Kidjo expressed her happiness about the collaboration in a post on her Instagram page.
“This song JOY is who I am! It is coming out this Friday. Thank you @davido for bringing your LIGHT! No one could have done it better. We hope this song can bring the world together for a moment of JOY!” She wrote.
The song’s scheduled release on the same day as the 2024 Grammy entry deadline has sparked rumours that Davido has his sights set on the golden record.
Following his loss in the 66 Grammy Award in 2023, Davido may be aiming to receive a nomination for “Joy” in the global categories, where Angélique Kidjo has consistently appeared with 14 nominations.
