Portable in police custody for unpaid debt

Habeeb Okikiola, better known by his stage name Portable, is a popular and controversial singer who was recently detained for allegedly refusing to pay back a debt he incurred when he purchased a G-Wagon from an auto dealer.
The musician was taken into custody by the Lagos Police Command on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.
The automobile dealer did however report the issue to the authorities after failing to get the artist to provide the remaining amount.
Portable’s arrest has been verified by Benjamin Hundeyin, the public relations officer for the Lagos State Police. According to Hundeyin, the musician was detained because he had not paid for his G-Wagon.
“Yes, Portable has been arrested. He bought G-Wagon for ₦27m, paid ₦13m, and refused to pay the rest, claiming the vehicle was bad. We arrested him today,” Hundeyin confirmed.
