Popular blogger Linda Ikeji releases second Movie.
The Night of June 7th, a true story-based film directed by Nigerian businesswoman and media personality Linda Ikeji, is coming soon.
On April 22, 2024, the director stated on her Instagram profile that it is among her many accomplishments of which she is proud.
“My second feature film, The Night of June 7th (inspired by true events), is coming to you in 2024. If you loved (or didn’t love Dark October…lol), you will love this! This movie was written and produced by me, and I can’t wait for you guys to see it. It will take you through all kinds of emotions. The Night of June 7th is coming, y’all,” she wrote.
Although the exact real-life events on which the film is based is unknown, June 7 is widely recognised in Nigeria as the day of the Apo 6 incident.
Five young Igbo men- Ifeanyi Ozor, Chinedu Meniru, Anthony Nwokike, Paulinus Ogbonna, Ekene Issac Mgbe, Augustina Arebu as well as Ozor’s wife died on June 7, 2005.
At a police checkpoint at Gimbiya Street, Area 11, Garki Abuja, the six individuals were brutally murdered by Nigerian Police Force officials serving under the command of former deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Danjuma Ibrahim.
The female victim allegedly rejected the senior officer’s romantic attempts at a nightclub, which sparked the altercation.
Ikeji has already produced a feature film based on a real-life incident.
One of the touchy themes discussed in the 2933 release of Dark October was the Aluu 4 lynching.
The movie is about four Nigerian University students who travelled to a certain place to look for a debtor who owes them money.
Unfortunately, the boys were mislabeled as thieves and killed by crowds after the debtor falsely reported that they were coming to take his possessions.
But a national crisis was triggered by the mob violence.
The actors expected to appear in the movie, The Night of June 7th are Gideon Okeke, Charles Lenny, April Chidinma, Ali Nuhu, Dante Okere and Femi Branch.
