Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason has revealed what it takes to win a Grammy Award.

This comes after disappointments trailed the just concluded 66th Grammy Awards which took place in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 5, 2024.

Meanwhile, Nigerian fans had massive expectations as a few Nigerian top artists were nominated in different categories. The Nigerian contingent were thought to bring home the awards.

However, the aftermath of the 66th Grammy Awards brought a home shock as Burna Boy, Davido, Asake & Olamide, and Ayra Starr lost the 10 nominations between them.

According to the President of the Recording Academy Board of Trustees Harvey Mason, the Academy evaluates each song on its quality and by the opinions of the Academy members each year. These determine the winners.

The members of the Academy, made up of professionals working in music in the United States, cast their votes which determine the winner of each category.

“It’s not the streams, not how many fans, not how many followers, but purely on the opinion of the membership in that particular year, that is how you win a Grammy,” Mason shared.
